About Abbeygate Rest Homes

Broadgate has been designing and building care homes since 1985, but it was back in 1990 that they decided to run one for themselves and the first Abbeygate Rest Home opened its doors. Founded by David Clarke, it was his vision to create a place that enhanced quality of life for the older person in a homely, secure and caring environment.

Three decades on, this vision is still the ethos that is found at the core of all the work that Abbeygate does within our local community.

At Abbeygate we strongly believe that it's not our home, it's your home; by keeping the homes small and intimate we are able to encourage residents to greet friends and family visitors, to bring personal treasured items with them and to utilise the space each home provides to chat with their neighbours as if they were in their own home. The homes are located within the heart of their communities; near to local shops, churches, dentists, doctors and even local pubs!

The passion for providing the highest quality of living that David Clarke first had all those years ago is something we encourage in every member of staff and we hope that it is one of the things that strikes you the very first time you walk through the door.
